Interesting Article

This is a great article about anti-choice women who obtain abortions.
"We have anti-choice women in for abortions all the time. Many of them are just naive and ignorant until they find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy. Many of them are not malicious. They just haven't given it the proper amount of thought until it completely affects them. They can be judgmental about their friends, family, and other women. Then suddenly they become pregnant. Suddenly they see the truth. That it should only be their own choice. Unfortunately, many also think that somehow they are different than everyone else and they deserve to have an abortion, while no one else does." (Physician, Washington State)

Looking towards the spring!

Meeting times have moved to Tuesdays at 6:30 pm, hopefully the time shift won't bother too many of our members! Don't forget-even if you can't make it to meetings, there are plenty of other opportunities available.
Here is what we have planned for the spring:
1. T-Shirt sales (t-shirts will be available at our first meeting, other than that we will be selling them at a tba date and time, probably outside of the Union)
2. Film Viewing - we hope to show a mainstream film such as Dirty Dancing or Kinsey related to abortion or birth control in the Hoff this spring.
3. Film Series - we will be showing a trilogy of films about abortion in the past, present, and future. The series will begin in March as a part of the Terps for Choice Women's History Month celebration!
4. Take Back The Night! We will be planning an event for Take Back the Night this spring.
5. Reproductive Rights Education Day - This year's RRED will be much bigger than last year's. Hopefully we will get community businesses and other local and student organizations interested in the event and the day will run more like a health fair specifically focused on educating students about reproductive rights/health!
6. Crisis Pregnancy Centers legislation - more on this to come, but our key legislation issues will probably involve working on research about local CPCs to make sure they are imparting fair and unbiased information.

It's going to be a busy semester! In addition to our regular meetings, we hope to have two committees - one to work on the film series and one to work on TBTN and RRED. Since the committees will probably meet at a different time than our regular meeting times, it will be a great way for those who are not able to make those times to stay involved.

Happy New Year!

New year, new choices, new opportunities!
If you have been unable to join Terps for Choice so far, or just can't make our meetings - we are moving our meeting time for the spring semester, so if you want to leave a comment to say what times are best for you, we will try to get a consensus and schedule meetings when it is best for everyone!
